Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Boston University. Following that, I was a first grade teacher for three years, and absolutely loved it. My favorite thing, you could say my passion, is in teaching students to read and write. Therefore, I returned to Boston University and obtained my master's degree in Reading Education. This gave me the time to learn a wide variety of teaching methods that allow me to adjust my teaching methods and techniques in order to meet each individual student's needs. I spent time tutoring elementary school students, and created many individualized learning materials and lesson plans for different students. I see myself as a guide when working with students, as they are the ones who need to actually learn the subject at hand. I give support and encouragement, and point the student towards information and solutions, always allowing them to make academic discoveries themselves. This gives them a lot more confidence than if I just gave them the information or answers. I'm available to tutor students in special or mainstream education, in all the basic subjects like English, math, and science, and also Spanish. I can help students studying for standard tests like the ISEE, as well.
