I'm a recent college graduate who earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Government from Claremont McKenna College, in Claremont, California. I'm hoping to attend law school in the future. I've spent time tutoring students in mathematics subjects, as well as coaching a nationally competitive high school debate team. It was during the time I spent coaching the debaters that I honed my own writing and research skills while helping the team research and write policy and philosophical topics. I believe that students have an easier time learning a subject if they are actively engaged during the learning process, so I try my best not to use lectures to teach. Instead, I tend to focus on specific problems or assignments, working my way through examples with my students until they are comfortable enough to complete the work on their own. I tutor students in elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra and algebra I, and geometry, as well as American history, AP United States History, AP Government and Politics, AP Government, social studies, and public speaking. I also tutor English students, specifically 6th through 9th grade students in writing, and can also help students with essay editing. I'm also available to help students with SAT prep in mathematics.
